For students seeking services spring quarter, they may call to arrange a time to talk to a counselor about support and resources. We are offering phone consultation and two online wellness series: “Wellness Wednesdays" and "Mindful Self-Compassion" to all Western students.
In-person appointments have been suspended, but we will be providing telementalhealth sessions (as allowed by state licensure) for students who are appropriate and eligible for those services. The information about scheduling written below pertains to when the Counseling Center is doing in-person appointments.
(The information below will pertain to operations after in-person classes and meetings are permitted. That date is to be determined.)
For your first contact with the Counseling Center, we ask that you come into our office, located in Old Main 540, during our drop-in hours which are 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Your initial consultation appointment is on a “first-come, first-served” basis, and any subsequent appointments after your initial consultation are scheduled appointments.
Please bring your Western ID and be prepared to spend 10-20 minutes to complete our required intake e-forms. You will then meet with a counselor to discuss your concerns and what might be helpful.
At the end of your initial consultation your counselor will suggest next steps, which may include life skills workshops, group counseling, brief individual therapy, or an off-campus referral. Please review our Informed Consent forms prior to your appointment.
If you are unsure if counseling services would be helpful, you can take a free mental health screening.
