Outdoor Wellness Breaks!

Welcome to Outdoor Wellness Breaks! This program is being offered by Counseling, Health, and Wellness and is intended to foster connection, provide informal consultation, and share information about wellness resources at Western. Outdoor Wellness Breaks will begin at Old Main near the rose garden and continue across campus/into the Arboretum depending on accessibility needs of the group. The strolls are scheduled for approximately one hour and will end back at Old Main. Outdoor Wellness Breaks will happen rain or shine, so plan accordingly! Consider bringing water as access to buildings will be limited. Restrooms will be available at Old Main.

COVID Guidelines: Outdoor Wellness Breaks will adhere to Phase 3 COVID guidelines, which limit the number of participants at an outdoor program to no more than 50 individuals. Masks and physical distancing will be required. Students (and staff) will need to complete a symptom attestation prior to attending the Wellness Walk that day. For students living on-campus, you will need to verify a green “cleared status” through the COVID clearance tracking system. If you have registered for an Outdoor Wellness Break and are not feeling well, do not attend. Students should contact the Student Health Center (360.650.3400) and ask to speak to a nurse.

COVID Precautions: Staff leading the Outdoor Wellness Break each week will have extra masks and hand sanitizer available. Staff will help to enforce physical distancing and encourage proper hygiene during the walks. Anyone who is not feeling well should not attend the Outdoor Wellness Break. If a participant later tests positive for COVID-19, they should contact the Student Health Center.

This program does not constitute treatment and students are not considered clients/patients of the Counseling & Wellness Center or Student Health Center by attending. Outdoor Wellness Breaks are intended to be a group program. Students seeking 1:1 support or confidential services should contact the Counseling & Wellness Center at 360.650.3164 to schedule a same-day, drop-in appointment.
